Meet Program & Info for TOMORROW'S MEET
Hello Dolphin Families!
Ready or not it’s time for our first meet! Are you excited? We usually get this info out a little earlier but being the first meet of the season, there were some technical difficulties. BUT… here we go!
The Meet Program and Individual Entry List are attached. Canterberry has highlighted the Meet Program with the Combined Events but I will attach the printed list of combined events as well. Below are the Meet Details. Please read through them carefully.
MEET DETAILS:
Pool Address: 3869 S. Atchison Way, Aurora, CO 80014 (If you are familiar with Pier Point or the MACS swimming team, this is their pool.)
Pool Details: They have a 6 lane, METER pool which means it will be longer than our pool. The deep end is 11’ or 12’. It is a unique pool in that it is an outdoor pool but covered with a white bubble structure. The sides roll up so that the top is covered but you can access the pool from the sides.
It is an aging structure and there is a lot of rust on the ground when the sides are up so I highly recommend making sure everyone wears footwear as much as possible.
Entrance: Enter the pool area by the open side gate located to the left of the main MACs entrance, near the tennis courts.
Arrive by: You should aim to arrive by 6:50am in order find parking, unload and find a place to set up.
Our Warm-Up Time: 7:25 – 7:50 am
Meet Starts at: 8:00 am
Team Colors: The Canterberry Crocs team color is GREEN so please try not to wear green. Wearing BLUE helps us know that you are with the Dolphins.
PARKING: The parking lot is teeny TINY and mostly reserved for Parent Reps, Head Coaches and their concessions and DJ people. Assistant/Junior Coaches may go through the parking lot and park on the tennis courts if there is space available.
Street parking is available. Please use only the main streets as cars parked on residential side streets are subject to towing. Please be sure to park the proper distance from stop signs, fire hydrants, etc. They are VERY STRICT about parking and you WILL be towed.
I HIGHLY suggest checking the google map before arriving. You will see that the pool (the white dome – it shows up as the “Denver Squid-Aquatics Club” on the map) is located somewhat behind the Casa Vallarta on Parker Rd. If you need to park in the back of that retail area there are walking paths from S. Atchinson Way that will lead you to the pool. Just FYI, there is a fence around the pool and tennis courts.
Be sure to allow yourself plenty of extra time to find parking and get to the pool area.
Meet Check-In: When you enter the pool area, our Check-In person and Volunteer Coordinators will be there to mark that your swimmer has arrived. They can help you with making sure your swimmer is properly marked for the meet. They will also have name tags for the volunteers.
Visitor Seating Area: Families can set up in the grassy areas and on the tennis court to the east of the pool. It looks like it should actually be hot and sunny tomorrow so be sure to bring your own shade (tents, umbrellas, etc) and chairs. The area we will be sitting in has zero shade.
Coach Area: There will be assigned tables/chairs on the pool deck for coaches.
Volunteer Meetings: Meetings for S&T and Timers will take place at 7:45 a.m.
- S&T will meet at the deep end of the pool by the starters area.
- Timers will meet at the shallow end.
- They will announce the meetings prior to the start.
- Timers and S&T judges should be in position and the first 8 events heated no later than 7:55 a.m.
Restrooms: Located on the lower level of the clubhouse.
Concessions: Canterberry Crocs will have a variety of breakfast and other food items available for purchase throughout the meet. They only take CASH.
Meet Entries & Programs: There will be hard copies for Parent Reps, Coaches, and officials, but families should print their own at home if desired. Families are reminded to bring a Sharpie and write their swimmer’s events, lanes, etc. on their arms prior to the start of the meet.
Results: Results will be posted somewhere in the pool area at the completion of each event. (IE: when all of the backstroke events are completed, they will print those sheets out and post them.) Last year, I believe they were located in the hallway area between the pool and clubhouse. I will email the final results later in the day on Saturday.
Theme: Paw Patrol
General Meet Questions: Please use the “Meet Information” tab to find helpful info on things like general Meet Preparation (what to bring, etc), how to mark your swimmer, how to read a Meet Program (the Heating Sheet), how to read the individual results, how scoring works and the pool maps. There is also an “FAQs” page under the “For Parents” tab. If you still can’t find the answer, feel free to ask me or use the “Contact Us” page to find the appropriate person.
That's all I can think of for now. Please let either Coach Emilie or me know if you have any questions. If this is your first meet, don't panic! We are all here to help so find myself or a volunteer coordinator or someone who looks like they know what they're doing and ask questions. We're all happy to help! (Don't grab Coach Emilie unless you really need to 'cuz she'll be super BUSY and focused on the meet.) :)
See you bright early! Go Dolphins!
