News for week of May 20th

    Hello Dolphin Families!

For those of you that were able to join us for some of the activities last week, we hope you had some fun and that your swimmers made some connections. Here are some announcements for this week. (And yep, you guessed it, I’m gonna ask for more Stroke & Turn judges!)

Stroke & Turn Judges Needed: First, THANK YOU for those that have already stepped up! We SO appreciate you!

For returning families, anyone interested in re-certifying or getting certified as a S&T Judge, the MHSL just added another clinic so there are 2 training dates left. (See below.) Right now, we are a little short on Judges for Home Meets. We could REALLY use at least 1 more so that someone doesn’t have to work the entire meet. (We need 2 judges per shift.)

If you haven’t done it before, this is a great year to test it out! Our first 2 meets are both away meets so, ideally, we can have new judges shadow experienced judges. Plus, we only have 2 home meets. (Our last “home” meet is a Prelim so all 6 teams will be supplying judges.) So, if you’ve been thinking about it, please attend one of the classes. Don’t worry - if you take the training course and decide it is absolutely not something you want to do, we won’t force you. At the very least you’ll learn more about each stroke and what the judges are looking for.

Stroke and Turn Judge (Sign up here)

Monday, May 20, 6:30pm-7:30pm @ Conference Room F in Castle Rock (100 S. Wilcox Street, Castle Rock, CO 80104)

Wednesday, May 22, 6:15-7:15 @ Creekside Rec Center (19301 J Morgan Blvd, Parker, CO 80134)

This same information can also be found on the Sign-Up Calendar. Please be sure to you the sign-up genius link above.

Team Swimsuits, Sweats and T-shirts, etc: The first Team cutoff has ended and gear should arrive at the pool before June 1. Swim N’ Things has created a 2nd cutoff which will be May 26 with gear arriving around June 15th.

If you would like to get a suit before June 15th, or if you need sizing help, please go to their store on Evans near I-25. This is also a great place to get swim fins and goggles. (And swim fins really need to be tried on.) Be sure to tell them you are with the Dolphins to get the discount!

(The team suit changes every 2 years so if you’d just like a suit that looks similar, I am attaching a picture of the current pattern.)

Swim Caps: This year, you can order PERSONALIZED swim caps through the Swim N’ Things website listed above. They come in a 2-pack and require the same name be on both caps.

Silicone team swim caps (no names) can be purchased directly from the team for $15. These can be purchased from me or Julia Chavez at practices or team events.

Swimsuit Donation: If your swimmer(s) has outgrown their team suit and it’s still in good shape, I am happy to take them and see if I can find them a new home. You can bring them to any practice or team event. And if you are looking to get a team suit, feel free to check with me first and see if I have any available.

Swim Fins Donations: Last year was the first year we started using swim fins during practice which means the team does not currently have any to offer during practices. If your swimmer has outgrown theirs and you would like to donate them to the team, we are happy to take them. We would love to eventually have enough fins to provide them to every swimmer during practice. We recommend the "Bettertimes Swim Fin" or something similar. (NO Snorkel fins!) They can be purchased at Swim N’ Things among other places. Any questions should be directed to Coach Emilie.

New Family Orientation: Monday, May 20, 4:00pm - 5:30pm. More details to come from Coach Emilie.

Swim Videos & Capture the Flag:  Wednesday, May 22, 4:00-5:00pm time OR 5:00-6:00pm time.

OK, I think that’s it for now. You can always check the Calendar on the website for more details.
