Upcoming Events & Dates
Hello Dolphin Families!
It was fun to meet so many new families at our In-Person Registration Day! If you missed it, no worries. There is still time to order. So, here come some announcements and reminders.
Stroke & Turn Judges Needed: For returning families, anyone interested in re-certifying or getting certified as a S&T Judge, there are 2 training dates left. (See below.) The more we have, the better. And this is a great year to test it out! Our first 2 meets are both away meets so, ideally, we can have new judges shadow experienced judges. Plus, we only have 2 home meets. (Our last “home” meet is a Prelim so all 6 teams will be supplying judges.) So, if you’ve been thinking about it, please attend one of the classes. Don’t worry, if you take the training course and decide it is absolutely not something you want to do, we won’t force you. At the very least you’ll learn more about each stroke and what the judges are looking for.
Meet Referee: For any of our returning S&T Judges, we are in need of a Meet Referee. There is only one training class for this and it’s THIS Sunday. If you think you might be interested, please take the course. We need someone to take on this role! (And please let me know if you’re interested.)
Upcoming Training for S&T Judges, Starters and Referees:
If you attend a Stroke and Turn Clinic, you're only certified as a Stroke and Turn Judge. If you attend a Starter Clinic, you're certified as a Starter and Stroke and Turn Judge. If you attend a Meet/Deck Ref Clinic, you're certified as a Meet Ref, Deck Ref, Starter, and Stroke & Turn Judge.

File Writer: One of the volunteer positions we will be looking to fill this season is the File Writer. This person sits in the Officials area next to the Meet Manager. The Meet Manager runs the software that runs the meet. The File Writer watches the meet in "real time" and takes notes on each event. They collect relay cards from the Heating Area volunteers and make notes regarding changes to every event such as scratches or lane switches. Usually, one person does the entire meet (single shift) but we can offer it as 2 shifts if necessary. Please let myself of the volunteer coordinators know if this might be of interest to you. ([email protected])
Team Swimsuits, Sweats and T-shirts, etc: You can still order from Swim N’ Things on their website until MAY 10th. Select “deliver to rep” at checkout or “pickup in store”. If you select “deliver to rep” the orders will be delivered to our pool before the first meet and available for pickup during morning practices.

If you need sizing help, please go to their store on Evans near I-25. This is also a great place to get swim fins and goggles. (And swim fins really need to be tried on.)
Swim Caps: This was just added! You can now order PERSONALIZED swim caps through the Swim N’ Things website listed above. They come in a 2-pack and require the same name be on both caps.
Silicone team swim caps (no names) can be purchased directly from the team for $15. These can be purchased from me or Julia Chavez at practices or team events.
Swimsuit Donation: If your swimmer(s) has outgrown their team suit and it’s still in good shape, I am happy to take them and see if I can find them a new home. You can bring them to any practice or team event. And if you are looking to get a team suit, feel free to check with me first and see if I have any available. (I don’t have many at the moment.)
Swim Fins: Last year was the first year we started using swim fins during practice which means the team does not currently have any to offer during practices. If your swimmer has outgrown theirs and you would like to donate them to the team, we are happy to take them. We recommend the "Bettertimes Swim Fin" or something similar. (NO Snorkel fins!) They can be purchased at Swim N’ Things among other places. Any questions should be directed to Coach Emilie.
Back to Swim Team Party: Friday, May 24, 4:00pm – 5:00pm. More details to come. Mark your calendar!
New Family Orientation: Friday, May 24, 5:00pm - 6:00pm. More details to come. Mark your calendar!
Flyer: Now that the in-person registration day has passed, Laura Coupas has updated our flyer. I’m attaching it to this email. Please feel free to send it to anyone that might be interested.
OK, I think that’s enough information for now. You can always check the Calendar on the website for more details.
Looking forward to a great season!
