Weekly Update
Hello Dolphin Families!
Just some reminders for the week and some basic info for our upcoming first home meet.
Sign-Up Swimmers: If you have not yet signed-up your swimmer as “attending” or “not attending” this Saturday’s meet, please do so NOW. (I forgot to send a reminder with a deadline so, um, it's now! Oops!)
Stroke & Turn: Wednesday from 8:00pm – 8:45pm for 9-12 year olds.
Meet & Greet Dinner: All families are invited to join us on Friday evening, June 9th, from 5:00-6:00pm at the clubhouse for a POTLUCK pizza dinner and some fun as we get to know each other and help the kids to make connections. Afterwards we will start setting up for the meet. Stay to help. Stay to watch and see what it looks like. Or go home and watch the Nuggets. :) Use the Sign-Up Calendar to RSVP and use the Job Sign-Up to bring an item to share.
Volunteers: Thank you so much to everyone that has already signed up! If you will be attending Saturday’s meet and have not yet signed up to volunteer, we are still in need of the following positions:
Concessions (both shifts) – help set up or break down concessions and sell concessions during meet. It will be in front of the clubhouse, outside of the pool area. There is usually 2 other people there so you can step away to watch your swimmer swim when needed.
Heating (both shifts) – helping to organize kiddos in the heating area. A great way to get familiar with the heating sheets!
Scoring Table (2nd shift) – Help out in the Officials area. Help confirm lane changes and scratches, post results, run DQ slips to the coaches, run information between Meet Manager, Officials and Heating.
Scribe (1st shift) – Sit in the Officials area with a headset and listen to the Stroke & Turn judges. Fill out the DQ slips.
Timers (1 for 1st shift, 6 for 2nd shift) – up close to the action! Confirm you have the right swimmer in your lane before the race starts. Stop the watch when the swimmer in your lane touches the wall. 3 timers per lane so you're never alone!
Water Runner (2nd shift) – occasionally take a tray of water cups around to the officials and timers.
You can also check the “Volunteer Position Descriptions” page to see what that job is or contact Candace at [email protected]. Use Job Sign-Ups to sign-up.
Donuts: Just a reminder, if you sign-up for Friday donuts please call ahead and ask them for “kid donuts with lots of sprinkles!” They are usually happy to oblige. (And King Soopers or the like is fine. They don’t need to be “fancy” donuts.)
Meet Prep: Be prepared for this meet to run until 12:00pm. Barring any technical or weather delays it may run quicker but always be prepared to stay. If you’re wondering what to bring you can use the "Meet Preparation" page for most of Saturday's information. Be sure to remember extra towels and goggles.
As the home team we will warm up first.
Arrive by: 6:15am
Warm ups: 6:30am
Meet begins: 7:30am
Seating Area: Dam West will be sitting in the grassy area on the north side (shallow end) of the pool. There is a tree that will provide some shade or shelter but the rest of the area will be open. It seems like a small area but we all fit just fine. FYI: the grassy area towards the corner or the pavement and in front of the tree – where the grass meets the concrete deck – will become a swamp so anyone sitting there will want to be in a chair, not on the ground. All of the pool lounge chairs will be put away so please bring your own chairs.
Concessions: There will be breakfast burritos, pop tarts and mini packs of donuts for breakfast choices. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers available for lunch as well as lots of drinks and snacks. Cash is easiest but we do have the means to accept a credit card. If your swimmer has Dolphin Dollars from this season or past seasons they can use them here. They are worth 25 cents each. (Most things are $1+.)
Clean-Up: ANY help after the meet is GREATLY appreciated! Everything needs to be put away. Trash needs to be picked up off the ground. We always want to leave any pool area as nice or nicer than when we got there. The clubhouse also needs to be cleaned which includes vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and cleaning the kitchen area and mopping. I welcome any and all help. Please and Thank you!
That's all for now. I will send out more details about the meet on Friday when I send out the Meet Program. Now go sign-up your swimmer(s)!
