So. Much. News!
Hello Dolphin Families!
I’ve got a bit of news and a bunch of reminders so hold on to your hat 'cuz here we go.
Stroke & Turn Judges: A reminder that the first S&T training clinic is TOMORROW. There are a total of 4 clinics available: 5/4, 5/10, 5/18 and 5/31 – all at various locations. So far, I see 3 people have signed up for the training. (THANK YOU!!!!) We need 4 at every meet (2 per shift) otherwise they end up working the entire meet. And ideally, we need 6+ so that we always have enough coverage if people go on vacation or get sick.
If you would like to review the “What is a S&T Judge?” email please find the “Stroke & Turn Judge Training Schedule” email under Recent News or click HERE.

Team Gear Order DEADLINE: If you haven’t ordered yet and would still like to order a team swimsuit, personalized sweats or a t-shirt, the deadline is SUNDAY, MAY 7!
If you need to try things on for sizing, please go to Swim N’ Things and they can help you out.
If you are new and need more information about the suits and gear, please check out our “Team Gear” page. Swim caps can be purchased from me. Everything else needs to be purchased through Swim N’ Things. Our Swim N’ Things team page is HERE. Please be sure to read all of the instructions.
NEW Calendar View: There is a LOT going on during swim season and I, for one, find it easier to look at a calendar view of all the events. So, if you’re like me, there is now a “Calendar” on the “Calendar & Sign-Ups” page. While you can see some details by hovering over the event, please use the “Sign-Up Calendar” page to see ALL of the details about each event.
New Family Orientation: Come meet the coaches and lead volunteers. There will be a short slideshow to address things such as how to sign your swimmer(s) up for meets, how to sign-up to volunteer, what the various volunteer positions are, how to read the Meet Program, how to mark your swimmer, and a quick chat about relays. There will be a Q&A session and then we’ll head outside to walk around the pool deck for some visual examples in preparation for your first swim meet!

Welcome Back to Swim Team Night: ALL Dolphin families, new and returning, are invited to join us for our first ever, "Welcome Night” hosted by our wonderful coaches! The coaches want to get to know all of the swimmers and help them to make connections before the season gets underway. There will be snacks, drinks and games. More details coming soon so mark your calendar!

Jason Lezac Swim Clinic: On Friday, June 2, 8-time Olympic medalist (4 gold!) and world record holder, Jason Lezak, will be hosting a swim clinic at the Hills West pool. Participants will learn techniques on freestyle, backstroke, and starts through in-water and dry-land instruction. Plus, they will hear Jason's incredible inspirational story of how he became a champion. There will also be time for photographs and pictures. Please see the attached flyer for details on the specific age groups and times.
Use the "Sign up now" link here or on the flyer to sign up. Registration is $75/swimmer. Please put your FULL name in the "First Name" slot and Dam West Dolphins in the "Last Name" slot.
This is a totally optional event. If you are not attending this event, please attend your regular swim practice at Dam West. The practice on June 2 will be a “Mock Meet” which will be especially helpful for new swimmers.
Swimsuit and Fins Donations: Just a reminder that if you have a team swimsuit that your swimmer has outgrown and you’d like to donate it, please contact me and I will be happy to find it a new home.
We will also be using fins this year so if you have any fins that your swimmer has outgrown, we are happy to take those too. (Only practice fins, no snorkeling fins.)
Volunteer Positions are OPEN: Volunteer positions for the 5 dual meets are now open. Feel free to sign up for them now. Use the “Sign-Up Calendar.” Details on the meets will be posted closer to the event.
FINAL EMAIL: This will be my last email to “previous season members” so if you have not yet signed up for the 2023 season, please be sure to check the “Recent News” on the Home page or our FB page. Or, you know, get signed up. ;)
SHEW! That was a LOT of information. Hopefully I’ve directed you where to find the information but, as always, if you have questions or need help, please feel free to contact me. Text or email is best.
Until the next email...
