Information for Saturday's Meet
Volunteers: Thank you SO much to everyone that has signed up! We just need one “Order of Finish” person for Shift 2. You can check the “Volunteer Position Descriptions” page to see what that job is or contact Candace at [email protected]. Use Job Sign-Ups to sign-up.
Donuts: Just a reminder, if you sign-up for Friday donuts please call ahead and ask them for “kid donuts with lots of sprinkles!” They are usually happy to oblige. (And King Soopers or the like is fine. They don’t need to be “fancy” donuts.) 😉
Friday Night Set-Up: We will start setting up at 6:00pm. Thank you to everyone that has volunteered to help! If anyone wants to stop by to help, feel free.
Saturday Morning Set-Up: There is still plenty to be done on Saturday morning and we don’t really have a volunteer sign-up for that but if you are able to help out feel free to jump in. I am hoping to have lists posted around of what needs to be done.
Meet Prep: Be prepared for this meet to run until 1:00pm. If you’re wondering what to bring you can use the "Meet Preparation" page for most of Saturday's information. Be sure to remember extra towels and goggles.
The biggest change is that we need to arrive even earlier than usual because we need to get THREE teams warmed up, instead of two.
Arrive by: 6:00am
Warm ups: 6:20am
Meet begins: 7:30am
Seating Area: Dam West will be sitting in the grassy area on the north side (shallow end) of the pool. There is a tree that will provide some shade but the rest of the area will be sunny and HOT so bring tents or canopies or umbrellas. Get cozy with your teammates. It seems like a small area but we all fit just fine. FYI: the grassy area towards the corner and in front of the tree – where the grass meets the concrete deck – will become a swamp so anyone sitting there will want to be in a chair, not on the ground. All of the pool lounge chairs will be put away so please bring your own chairs.
Parking: As you all know we have a very small parking lot. If you’re driving and get there early – before I can get the Reserved Parking signs out - please leave the 4 parking spots in the farthest SE corner open. (Closest to the playground.) We have 210 swimmers coming so parking is going to be tight. If you can carpool or walk, please do. The other teams have been given maps to park at Polton and walk over. I will attach them for you as well.
Concessions: We will have breakfast burritos and other breakfast items available as well as lots of drinks and snacks. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers available for lunch. Cash is easiest but we do have the means to accept a credit card. If your swimmer has Dolphin Dollars from this season or seasons past they can use them here. They are worth 25 cents each. (Most things are $1+.)
Toilets: You may have noticed this week that the toilets were backed up Mon, Tues and Wed. A plumber was called out twice to unclog them. We realized that there were no trashcans in them and that has been rectified. PLEASE do not flush anything except toilet paper down the toilets. The plumber said it was wipes among other things. (And those “flushable” wipes are NOT flushable.) I don’t believe that it was from swim team but wanted to mention it so that everyone knows.
Baby Pool: The baby pools at ALL pools are closed during swim meets. I know it is SO tempting for the kiddos to jump in to either get warmed up or cooled down but please let them know that they are not allowed in the baby pools.
Playground: Children should never be there unattended.
Watch and Listen for your swimmer's events so they are in heating on time. We will be doing some “creative combining” of events for this meet so please keep an eye on the Heating Numbers (in the baby pool area) and make sure we can find your swimmer(s). Remember, there will be a yellow number behind the officials that will tell you which event is currently in the pool.
DO NOT leave early before the end of the meet unless you first notify Coach Emilie.
Contact Coach Emilie ASAP if for any reason your swimmer cannot make the meet! [email protected]or (970) 376-5362.
Swim Caps & T-shirts: Will be sold at the concession stand. The silicone caps are $12. Any extra t-shirts will be available there as well.
Photos: If you happen to capture any great shots of your kids (swimming, playing, dancing, goofing around, whatever) or groups of kids or coaches or parents or families… you get the idea… please email them to Alisa at: [email protected].
Theme: The coaches would like to remind all the swimmers that Saturday’s theme is “Wild Wild West!” (Dam West, Hills West & Castle Rock West.) Yee-haw!
OK, that's all I can think of for now. I will send out the Meet Program and Individual Entry List along with any final prep notes tomorrow so check your email!
Let me know if you have any questions!
