Meet Program & Info for TOMORROW'S MEET
Hello Dolphins!
Can you believe tomorrow is our first meet of the season? Are you ready?
Attached are the Meet Program and Individual Entry List. Use the Individual list to mark your swimmer. If you don’t know how we will help you when you arrive.
Below is the same meet information as before plus a few more notes.
Arrive by: You should aim to arrive by 6:45am in order find parking, unload and find a place to set up.
Warm up schedule: Dam West 7:20 – 7:50
Castle Pines Village team colors are GREEN so please try not to wear green. Wearing BLUE helps us know that you are with the Dolphins.
Directions: The pool address is 4500 Canyon Club Dr, Castle Rock, 80108. From Dam West you can take I-25 South to Happy Canyon Rd. Exit to the right and proceed past the first round-about to the second one. At the 2nd circle, you want to take the 3rd exit to the Castle Pines Dr S which is to the left/south of Happy Canyon Rd. The gate is manned and will require a driver's license check prior to entrance. (I’m not sure this is true but I’m leaving it here in case it is.) Please plan a bit of extra time for gate entrance. Take the first left turn you can once you pass through Gate 4, and the pool is at the end of that street across from the tennis courts.
Parking: There will be security guards there to direct you to parking. Please follow the guards’ directions to the legal parking areas. The guards will ticket any illegally parked cars. The no parking zones near the pool/tennis courts are clearly marked and we don’t want any family to be unhappy with a parking ticket.
Pool Area: As your families enter through the left gate, you will see the concessions area to the right. The main heating area is at the south end of the pool designated by green canopies. Your designated seating area is on the East side of the pool (to the left as you enter the pool). There are a few steps up to a grassy area where your families can set up their area. The Stingrays area is on the west side of the pool. The area south of the heating area and near the baby pool is open space and can be taken by any family that wants a bigger space to spend the morning. Your team is also welcome to use areas outside the fence including the pavilion. The baby pool is closed during meets and not available for use. Coaches can set up on the east side of the pool (pool side). Since the grassy area is elevated, families will be able to see the swimmers behind the coaches’ area.
Concessions: Breakfast, lunch and snack items will be available for purchase. We serve breakfast burritos, muffins and donuts as well as several snack items. Water, coffee and soda are also available for purchase.
Scoring System: We use the Dolphin timing system at our pool. Timers will be given instructions on the use of this system prior to the meet start (approx. 7:20 am).
Heating: We will not be using cards. There will be a heating meeting (approx. 7:20 a.m.) at the main heating area at the south end of the pool. We will be using additional space for heating so each team can heat their own swimmers.
Event Results: Event Results will be posted throughout the meet on the wall that extends to the right of the women’s restroom. Also, the announcer will provide an update as to the meet results throughout the meet.
Stroke and Turn Officials: The Meet Referee will address all S&T officials prior to the meet start (approx 7:15 a.m.) at the scoring table near lane 1. The S&T officials will be provided the tools they need to monitor the meet.
2nd shift volunteers: Shift change will happen following event 48 (the backstroke events).
VOLUNTEERS: Thank you to everyone that has signed up! We just need 1 more timer for 2nd shift. If you or a spouse or a grandparent are able to help please contact Candace Ellman at [email protected] or (303) 947-5363 with any questions. (Not me.)
THEME: Rainbow Unicorns. If your swimmer(s) would like to participate they can wear something colorful or with rainbows or unicorns. (Headbands, tattoo, hats, shirts, sunglasses, hoodie...) Just make sure they take it off when they swim. It is totally voluntary and just meant to something fun to do. Parents can join in too!
General Meet Questions: Please use the “Meet Information” tab to find info on things like general Meet Preparation (what to bring, etc), how to mark your swimmer, how to read a heating sheet (the Meet Program), how to read the individual results, how scoring works and the pool maps. There is also an “FAQs” page under the “For Parents” tab. If you still can’t find the answer, feel free to ask me or use the “Contact Us” page to find the appropriate person.
A Few Misc MOM Notes (since it’s our first meet and I’m feeling the need to “mom” all the new families):
- Make sure to bring multiple towels per swimmer. (At least 2.) They will need one after their warm-up and then pretty much after every event until it gets warmer so you’ll want to be swapping them out.
- You’ll want to have sweats and/or robes and/or warm clothing for them to bundle into in the morning hours. They’ll dry off and want to get warm while they wait for their next event.
- Bring water and snacks but just know that there’s a concession stand and they’re going to want candy. Even if you bring candy. Even if you bring the same candy. Apparently it’s just "not the same." Cash always works best. Some places take credit/debit cards but not all.
- Bring some form of entertainment for the kiddos: books, toys, cards, games. There will be a lot of down time between events and this is when the fun and bonding happens.
- Bring chairs to sit on. There should be enough shade at this pool with the trees.
- If you have the SwimTopia app (or are getting it) you do NOT need the “Pro” version. The free version is fine.
- I will have swim caps available for purchase.
OK, that’s all I can think of right now. Email me, Coach Emilie ([email protected]) or Candace ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
See you tomorrow bright & early! Go Dolphins!
