Meet Program & Info for TOMORROW'S MEET
Ready for our 2nd Home Meet? Well, get ready because it could be "special"! Please read everything carefully!
Arrive by: 6:15am
Warm-Ups: 6:30am
Meet Starts: 7:30am
WEATHER: If you’ve been watching the forecast then you know that it’s not going to be overly warm tomorrow AND there is a possibility of rain and lightning. I am watching 5 different weather apps and the reports range from “nothing until later” to “rain & lightning possible all morning.” I will be monitoring the weather apps closely. We need to get through 46 events in order for it to be an “official” meet. If the weather comes into play the Meet Ref, both parent delegates and both Coaches will make a decision about what needs to be done. If we DO end up taking a break due to weather, please don’t leave!
That being said, be sure to bring enough towels and warm clothing (sweats, etc) to keep your swimmer warm between events. And I highly recommend bringing tents, umbrellas and/or rain gear to stay dry if necessary. Hopefully if we’re prepared for the worst it’ll take the fun out of it for Mother Nature and she’ll let us have our meet in peace!
If you have a pop-up tent and are willing to share it, please do! We may need to cover extra things like the scoring table, the DJ equipment, the concession stand, etc.
Meet Program & Individual Entry List are attached. Please print them out and bring them with you. Below are the combined events. Use the “Individual Entry List” to determine which events your swimmer is swimming in.
6-26-21 Clarke Farms at Dam West
Heat 1 of the following events will be combined:
1, 2 23, 24 49, 50 71, 72
7, 8 25, 26 54, 55, 56 73, 76
11, 12 33, 34 57, 58, 59 79, 80
15, 16, 17, 18 39, 40 63, 64 83, 84
19, 20 45, 46 65, 66 87, 88
All swimmers will swim with the last event listed.
For example, heat 1 of #7 will swim during heat 1 of #8.
The “Meet Information” tab on the website has lots of details about the meets!
HEATING AREA: For our new families, I know that last week’s meet went very fast and there was a LOT of combined events so there was a lot of scrambling trying to find kids and get them to the heating area in time. So, with that in mind, here is a quick guide on how it works. The Heating Area is in the baby pool area. There is a sign there, facing the pool, with two numbers listed. This range of numbers represents who should be in that area. If you look to the other side of the pool, behind the officials, you will see a yellow sign with a number on it. That number represents the event that is currently swimming in the pool. So watch the numbers and pay attention if the DJ/Announcer is calling out heating numbers.
Ex: Your swimmer is marked: 25-1-3
That first number is the Event number. 25. That is the number you need to pay attention to. So if you look at Heating and it says 23-27, your swimmer should be in heating! Make sure they have their goggles and cap and get them to the heating area. The volunteers in there will check them in and take it from there. (It’s their job to get them in Heat 1 and Lane 3.) The Assistant and Junior Coaches will be helping to find kids if they are not in heating when they are supposed to be so please be sure you are somewhere in the team area so they know where to find you.
VOLUNTEERS : Thank you to everyone that has signed up! If you have any questions or problems, please contact Candace Ellman or Jane Robinson at [email protected] and let them know. (Not me!)
Shift Change: Reminder that the shift change will happen after Event 48 (the end of Backstroke.) Shift 1 and Shift 2 people please listen to the announcer for the shift change. And Shift 2 be nearby and ready to take over your position on time!
Volunteer Information Meetings will be @ 7:10am
ALL Timers (both shifts) meet behind the dive blocks.
ALL Stroke & Turn judges (both shifts) meet @ the lifeguard stand near the officials area.
Shift 1 Heating: meet in the Heating Area (baby pool.)
Shift 2 Heating: will get training on the spot at the shift change.
TONIGHT – MEET SET-UP – 6:00pm
The weather might get us tonight too but we will still be there setting up as much as we can. We may have to adjust some things and keep them inside until tomorrow morning.
There is always LOTS yet to do on Saturday morning and tomorrow there will probably be even more than usual so ANY help tomorrow morning is greatly appreciated. I’ve created 2 new pages under the “For Parents” tab on the website with maps and instructions. You will need to be logged in to see them:
“Friday Night Set-Up” – 6:00pm
“Saturday Morning Set-Up” – 6:15am
IMPORTANT MEET INSTRUCTIONS :
Come prepared with your swimmer's events on their arm and their last name on their back written in sharpie. They will be checking at the gate and you will need to get it done before entry.
If you are new to our team please use the “Meet Information” and “For Parents” tabs on the website. I have put many, many hours into the website and posted tons of information to try and help new families.
The “Meet Preparation” page on the website will tell you how to prepare, what to bring, "Marking Your Swimmer", etc. Another useful link is the "FAQs".
Quick Highlights:
Parking: You can park anywhere in the neighborhood but please be courteous to our neighbors and don’t block any driveways. Also, do not park around the island entrance at Nome. You can also park at Polton Elementary and walk thru the greenbelt. I am attaching a map so that you can see where Polton is in relationship to the pool.
Dam West Seating Area: This year we will sit in our usual area in the grassy area on the north side of the pool. It can get pretty crowded so for social distancing purposes, please feel free to sit on the outside of the fence as well -wherever you are comfortable - although please stay on the north side of the pool – we need to be able to find your swimmer(s)! There is a tree there with a little shade but you may want to bring your own tents or umbrellas for shade because the rest of that area is straight up sun!
Social Distancing: We are allowing families to sit within the fenced area as much as they are comfortable but we are asking that if you are not a swimmer, a coach or a volunteer that you help us keep the deck space around the pool open. Everyone is welcome to watch their swimmer(s) events but please leave the pool deck between their events so that others can have those spots. We will be running a “normal” meet with both teams together but we plan on using more deck space this year to space out our Heating Area.
Playground: Children should never be there unattended.
Watch and Listen for your swimmer's events so they are in heating on time. To figure out which events are in the pool and which are in heating please see the “FAQs” page under the "For Parents" tab.
DO NOT leave early before the end of the meet unless you first notify Coach Emilie.
Contact Coach Emilie ASAP if for any reason your swimmer cannot make the meet! [email protected] or (970) 376-5362.
Swim Caps & T-shirts: Will be sold at the concession stand. The silicone caps are $12 and the latex caps are $8. Any extra t-shirts will be available there as well.
Photos: If you happen to capture any great shots of your kids (swimming, playing, dancing, goofing around, whatever) or groups of kids or coaches or parents or families… you get the idea… please email them to Alisa at: [email protected].
OK. I have no idea what kind of weather we’re going to wake up to tomorrow morning so PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL OR YOUR SWIMTOPIA APP FOR ANY UPDATES! If you don't see any updates assume everything is moving forward as usual.
Alright, I think that’s it. If you have any questions and can’t find the answer on the website, please ask one of us. See you bright & early tomorrow morning! And think happy, dry thoughts!
Go Dolphins!!
