Meet Program & Info for TOMORROW'S MEET
Hello Dolphins!
Ready for our 2nd meet? Since we’re going back to the same pool this is basically a “take 2” on last week. The opposing team will be wearing RED so if you can not wear that color it would be helpful. And if you can wear BLUE, even better!
Since the Card System was new to almost all of us things were pretty chaotic last week. Hopefully we’ve all got the hang of it now and a better understanding of what needs to happen. Please check the results as they get posted at the end of each event (ex: end of 15-18 backstroke) and make sure everything looks right. If you see any discrepancies please let me or Coach Emilie now right away.
VOLUNTEERS: We still have a number of slots to fill: Shift 2 Heating Area, Shift 2 Runner, Shift 1 Scribe, 4 more Shift 2 Timers. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do so ASAP! And if there is any way you can do another shift or bribe a teenage sibling or grandparent or neighbor to help out, we’d appreciate that too! Please contact Candace Ellman at [email protected] or (303) 947-5363with any questions. (Not me.)
TIMERS: Reminder – you will stop your stopwatch when ANY part of the swimmer touches the wall. Finger, toes, nose, head, butt – it doesn’t matter! It is the Stroke & Turn judges’ job to determine whether or not the swimmer DQ’d so you are just looking for a touch.
Where: 3952 Butterfield Crossing Dr, Castle Rock, CO 80109
Arrive by: You should aim to arrive by 6:45am in order find parking, unload and find a place to set up.
Warm up schedule: Dam West 7:25 – 7:50
Parking: Both parking lots near the pool are open, and possibly the elementary parking lot. You can park on the entrance street to the pool on the entrance side, NOT ON THE EXIT SIDE. Obey all NO PARKING signs and you will be fine. If you park in neighborhoods, please be respectful of driveways.
Team Set Up: Please set up on the left side of the pool as you walk in the gate. You are welcome to be on the deck or outside of the fence on that side but will need to keep the sidewalk clear as the neighbors may use that during the meet. You are also free to set up in the area between the pool building and the pavilion in the grassy areas. We appreciate as much social distancing as your team is comfortable with.
** While, Tri-County is a under a "Level Clear" please be mindful of social distancing. There will be 2 team tents set up together. I know many of us have been vaccinated and we're all outside but please keep in mind that not everyone has the same comfort level and may have different situations. I ask that everyone stay in the general team area so that we can find you and your swimmer(s) but please sit where you are comfortable.
Concessions: There WILL be a food truck this time selling breakfast burritos, French toast sticks and coffee. Please be sure to bring plenty of food, water and snacks for both you and your swimmer(s)!
Meet entries: Please print them out. They will print the programs necessary for volunteers and deck officials, but will not have any for sale.
Results: Results will be posted on the glass in front of the building.
Meet Specifics: Castle Rock is the only team in our Division that runs a carded meet and do combinations "on the fly", so know that the meet program that is sent out may be modified to combine heats to make the meet run faster. If something changes, please contact Coach Emilie ASAP (970-376-5362) so that she can make the appropriate changes.
Heating Areas: We will heat lanes 1-4 and lanes 5-8 separately. If a team has more than 4 swimmers for a heat, they will stay in their respective heating area until right behind the blocks. Cards will be picked up between lanes 4-5 behind the pergola.
Timers: Timers for visiting team will be in lanes 5-8. Our shift change will be after event 48. Please listen for announcements in the morning for the “TIMERS MEETING”. Both shifts should attend the meeting to familiarize themselves with the watches and the process. * Castle Rock will be different than all of the other pools we swim at.
RELAYS: Once again Coach Emilie did her best to get everyone in a relay but we only have 40 swimmers this time and in some cases there just wasn’t a way to make a relay team. She will continue to work hard to make sure those that don’t get to swim in a relay this time will get to swim in one at the next meet.
GENERAL MEET QUESTIONS: I have worked hard to put as much information as possible on the website for new families. Please use the “Meet Information” tab to find info on things like general meet preparation (what to bring, etc), how to mark your swimmer, how to read a heating sheet (the Meet Program), how to read the individual results, how scoring works and the pool maps. There is also an “FAQs” page under the “For Parents” tab. If you still can’t find the answer, feel free to ask me or use the “Contact Us” page to find the appropriate person.
If you are new, your first meet can feel a bit overwhelming. Don’t be shy! Grab another parent or volunteer and ask questions. Everyone here is happy to help!
See you bright and early!
