Sig-Up for June 5th Meet & UPDATES!
Hello Dolphins!
It's hard to believe but our first swim meet is only 4 days away! I apologize that it’s taken me so long to finally get everything finalized, up and running but I think we're finally ready to go! Updates coming at ya!
JUNE 5th MEET IS OPEN: I have opened up the June 5th Swim Meet so you can now go the website HERE and sign up your swimmer(s) for their events and sign yourself (and your spouse or partner!) up for volunteer positions. “Sign-Up Instructions” can be found under the Meet Information tab.
Specific details regarding things such as directions, warm-up times, where to sit, the Meet Schedule, which events your swimmer(s) will be in, etc, will be emailed out by Friday night before each Meet.
There is also a LOT of information on the website under the "Meet Information" and "For Parents" tabs. If you are new please check out those pages prior to Saturday.
VOLUNTEER SIGN-UPS: Just for some perspective, there are 46 positions (not including the Head Volunteer positions that are already filled) that need be filled and only 43 families on the team this year. Plus, not all families will be at this meet. So wherever, and however, your family is able to help would be GREATLY appreciated! (Double shifts, more than 1 job, both parents helping, teenagers that can help, etc.) We are going to need ALL the help we can get!
If you hover your mouse over the black circle next to each job name it will give you a brief description of what the job entails. Or you can go to the "Volunteer Job Descriptions" page under the "For Parents" tab.
For questions or anything volunteer related please contact Candace Ellman or Jane Robinson at [email protected].
MEET ENTRY: If you know that you are not attending the meet please go into the “Meet Entry” and mark your swimmers as “Not Attending.”
“Swimming Up” in a relay: To “swim-up” means that a swimmer from a younger age group is allowed to swim in an older age group, often in order to complete a relay. We need 4 swimmers per relay. This year in particular, because we have such a small team, many age groups are not going to have enough swimmers to have a relay of their own. This means we will need to use swimmers from other age groups to make a relay. A swimmer can only move up age groups, not down. So a 16 year old boy cannot swim in the “8 & Under Boys Relay” but an 8 year old boy can swim in a “15-18 Boys Relay.” (Coach probably wouldn’t jump them up quite that much but it has happened in the past.)
I know this might sound scary if you’re trying to picture your 8 year old swimming with the “big kids” but it’s actually a lot of fun and everyone will be cheering for them! And this year it’s all about having some fun! BUT, if you really think it’s too much and don’t want that experience for your swimmer you can check the “Please do not enter in relays for older age-groups” button on the Meet Entry.
For parents of young swimmers, your kiddos may be swimming-up. For parents of older kiddos, please let them know they may have mixed relays this year. Coach Emilie will do her best to put together as many relays as she can but it is possible that not everyone will get to be on a relay every week.
SWIMTOPIA: If anyone is having problems or conflicts with their account and they have another Swimtopia account (maybe with another year round or high school swim team ) please let me know or contact Swimtopia directly. They are very responsive. You can submit a ticket HERE.
SWIM GEAR: The swim gear from Swim N' Things is at the pool. I will be at the 1st practice before it ends handing things out. Look for me near the baby pool.
Swim Caps: I will also have team swim caps available for purchase. Silicone are $12. Latex are $8. Cash is easiest but I can take checks too. I don't currently have Venmo or anything like that set up.
T-Shirts: If you ordered a t-shirt they should be coming soon. If not this week then by next week.
LOST & FOUND: I already have a number of things that were left behind last Friday. I will have them out near the baby pool. See attached photo.
Looking for info in an old Email? If you’re hunting through your emails but can’t find the one you’re looking for you can check the website’s Home Page. Scroll down on the right side to “Recent News” and you will find all of the general emails that I send out.
OK, that's all I have at the moment! We are running behind this week so if you could please sign up your swimmer and for your volunteers positions ASAP it would be greatly appreciated! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week!
